International Cultural Relations – Online debate #2

The 2nd Intercontinental Online Debate on how to improve international (cultural) cooperation in cities and local governments between the EU/ropean and African continents took place on 24 January 2023, providing an opportunity for discussion and networking among participants from Austria, Burkina Faso, the Czech Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, Luxembourg, Mali, Morocco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Senegal, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Tunisia, Zambia ….

Based on the preliminary findings of a larger study on the current status and potential for improving international (cultural) cooperation between Africa and the EU/rope, two main themes were identified and discussed at the meeting;

  • How to ensure that local policy makers address the full potential of (international) cultural development to best respond to local needs and potentials in their cities and regions.
  • How to better involve local youth and civil society to ensure broad participation of all segments of the population in local-global encounters.

The next online debate, planned for March 2023, will present the results of the above-mentioned study and will once again provide an intercontinental online platform for meeting and exchanging views.
