New Deconfining e-anthology

How can we bridge the gap between two continents—Europe and Africa—fostering a deeper understanding of social, political, and economic confinement through diverse cultural perspectives? This question drives our DECONFINING project, which aims to develop new ways of intercontinental artistic and cultural cooperation. This anthology is the symbolic fingerprint of our efforts—a testament to the transformative power of art and culture in transcending historical and political divides.

Exploring Traumatic Times Through Texts

Our anthology features thought-provoking texts reflecting the world we live in—its traumas, hopes, and lingering questions. Selected through open calls and produced during transcontinental writers’ residencies, these texts delve into issues like illegal migration, prejudice, the position of women, memory, social and political taboos, and the need for a common language through art.

Residencies organized by our partners, the National Kaunas Drama Theatre, Salzkammergut 2024, and Operndorf Afrika – Village Opera, as well as open calls by the Croatian National Theatre Zajc, the Tunisian National Theatre, Bodo2024, Art Transparent Foundation, Nafasi Art Space and the Museum of Women History in Zambia, allowed European and African writers to share stories and perspectives. These texts offer diverse narratives that highlight the shared human experience across continents.
