In the first Deconfining Writers’ Residency, four talented authors—Greta Ambrazaitė-Norkūnė, Laura Sheilla Inangoma, Kibsa Anthony Ouedraogo, and Teodora Grigaitė—embarked on a collaborative exploration of shared themes, emotions, and narratives that transcend geographical boundaries. Through debates, workshops, and lectures, they delved deep into the universal human experiences that bind us together despite our differences. The culmination of their collective efforts resulted in a series of literary texts, each offering a unique perspective yet resonating with interconnected emotions and values.

Experience Greta Ambrazaitė-Norkūnė’s unique perspective as her powerful words are shared in this exclusive audio recording. Listen to her moving reflections on how global experiences intertwine during the pandemic. The text consists of two novellas, two essays and a diary (autofiction). They are fragmentary and sketchy works that try out very different perspectives, writing techniques and literary genres. Some fragments suggest an entire fictional, fantastic world; other texts link the personal life of the author, a Lithuanian poet, episodes of her everyday life with mythological processes, images and figures. In this way, the problems of the (post-)pandemic world appear as domestic and at the same time cyclical and global. This is a text written by an educated, erudite poet who does not shy away from delving into the world of literary and cultural references. And at the same time, all the different texts are very attentive to feelings, emotions and the intimacy of family life.
