Have Your Say! Visas: Mobility from African Countries to Schengen Countries
Pour le questionnaire en français pour les artistes du continent africain, voir le bas de la page.
Deadline: 20 June 2023
These questionnaires are part of a study on concepts and definitions of mobility in Africa and Europe, coordinated by On the Move, carried out in the framework of the Deconfining project. There are two short but detailed questionnaires:
- one is aimed at host/inviting organisations (cultural venues, festivals, residencies, biennials, etc.) based and registered in a Schengen country that have had problems with visas and/or refusals for artists and cultural practitioners they have invited from African countries (available in English)
- one targets artists and culture professionals in African countries who have had problems with or have been refused Schengen visas (available in English and French).
The purpose of these questionnaires is to gather information on the nature of the problems that have arisen between June 2019 and the time of this survey, as well as their consequences for the host organisations and the invited artists and/or cultural professionals.

In preparing this short questionnaire, On the Move has received feedback and advice from Pearle*, the Mobility Info Points, Alba Kultur, the International Music Council and Zone Franche. The data and information provided in the questionnaire will only be used within the scope of this study, which will be published on the Deconfining in On the Move website.
These questionnaires and the related study, which will include some of the main findings of this survey, do not aim to be fully comprehensive on the subject, but rather to provide an overview of the most pressing issues faced by host organisations and possible solutions to facilitate the visa process for artists and cultural workers.
Thank you for your participation in this important issue in order to work towards fairer and more ethical patterns of cultural mobility in Europe and internationally.
We look forward to connecting with you!
