Nafasi Art Space was founded in 2008 by a small group of Tanzanian artists with the aim of improving access to and widening participation in the visual arts in Tanzania. It is Tanzania’s leading centre for contemporary visual and performing arts, comprising a vibrant community of artists, musicians, dancers, performers and technicians based in the industrial area of Mikocheni B, Dar es Salaam.

Nafasi Art Space hosts more than 20 studios and workshops, as well as several galleries and performance platforms. It offers regular programmes including training and workshops, artist talks and public events such as film screenings, exhibitions, concerts, festivals and public art fairs. Nafasi receives an average of more than 1000 visitors each month.

The Nafasi platform has created an organic ecosystem in which an artistic community can develop, enabling artistic and cultural entrepreneurship for many young Tanzanians.

We look forward to connecting with you!
